Donald Jerome Scaletta, 76, passed away suddenly on July 14, 2021. He was born September 4, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Jerome and Helen Scaletta. Donald proudly served his country as a US Marine during the Vietnam War. He loved the open road where he spent many years as a long-distance truck driver. Donald loved his adored pets, watching the Browns and Indians, the Jersey Shore, cooking, grilling and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph (survived by Linda), sister-in-law and special friend, Roberta Scaletta. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Julia; children, Brett Scaletta, Helen (Frank) Sano, Michael (Debbie) Morhidge Sr., Rosalie Morhidge, Julie Morhidge; grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Bennett, Michael (Dana) Morhidge, Ron (Kelly) Martin, Kristi (Adam) Driscoll, Ashley Morhidge, Ella Scaletta, and Paige Scaletta; great-grandchildren, Ava, Alexa and Naomi; nephews, Jerome (Jay) Scaletta and Joseph Scaletta, Jr.
The family will greet friends at Hennessy Bagnoli Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St. Akron, OH 44310 on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m., Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Church, 44 University Ave., Akron, Ohio 44308 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg.
