Richard Allen Booth, Jr., 44, passed peacefully from this life on August 4, 2021, after a brief but fierce battle. His greatest joy was his family, and those who knew him can recall how proud he was of his wife and children. A lifelong resident of Norton, Rich was forever attending sporting events, school functions and community festivities. In his twenty years as an educator, Rich loved and helped countless third graders realize their potential while also encouraging other teachers to embrace changing technology. He is often described by students, parents and even fellow teachers as their "favorite". When he wasn’t serving the Revere school community and his own family, Rich was cheering for the Buckeyes and advocating for the students and citizens of Norton.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife of twenty years, Jamie; treasured children, Eric (Sarah), Austin, and Riley; mom, Cathy; brother, Jacob; sister, Holly Novotny (Adam); parents-in-law, Don and Sandy Lunato; brother-in-law, Jason Lunato (Michelle); and 4 nieces and a nephew, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his dad, Richard, Sr. and grandma, Dixie.
The outpouring of love for the Booth family during Rich’s illness has been heart-warming. Stories have poured in about his quiet humility, generous service, and love of others. The impact of his positive attitude and desire to serve inspired many.
A memorial celebration of his life will take place at Bacher Moore Funeral Home in Norton on Tuesday, August 17, from 3-7 PM. In honor of Rich, the family asks that you wear your favorite Ohio State gear to his tribute. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the family through the fundraiser "Buckeyes for Booth".
